Who would have forgotten Batibot? A local muppet tv show way back circa ‘84 that sets trend to children educational program in a 30-minute magazine format. Produced by Philippine Children’s Television Foundation, Inc. (PCTVF). “It is based on an educational blueprint or curriculum which addresses all aspects of early childhood growth and development.”
And now back to memory lane. Watching the Batibot’s reunion at Jessica Soho Reports, brought me to a nostalgia. It was nice to see Kuya Bojie, Ate Susie, Ate Isay, Kiko Matsing & Manang Bola (Oh yes! That crystal-ball seeing muppet) again even in just a short time. Wish this show be back on the boob tube!
The Philippine tv needs educational program like Batibot. Glad there still are. “Art Angel” and ”Sirit” are just one of them.
After 14 years (1998), Batibot bade goodbye on national tv. Will it make a come back? No one will ever know…Maybe if the present government will take a serious look at education and support programs (tv or not) that will uphold and secure the future of our children to be more educated, then this show will make a return. Who knows, the old gang might still be around to sing with us “Pagmulat ng mata, langit nakatawa, sa Batibot, sa Batibot…”
PAGMULAT NG MATA,
LANGIT NAKATAWA
SA BATIBOT,
SA BATIBOT
TAYO NANG MAGPUNTA
TUKLASIN SA BATIBOT
ANG TUWA, ANG SAYA
DOON SA BATIBOT
TAYO NA, TAYO NA
MGA BATA SA BATIBOT
MALIKSI, MASIGLA. (2X)
DALI, SUNDAN NATIN
ANG NGITI NG ARAW
DOON SA BATIBOT (2X)
TAYO NANG MAGPUNTA
TUKLASIN SA BATIBOT
ANG TUWA, ANG SAYA
DOON SA BATIBOT
TAYO NA, TAYO NA
MGA BATA SA BATIBOT
MALIKSI, MASIGLA. (2X)

Tayo na!

Mention of Sirit is truly appreciated. We need all the help we can get. Just like Batibot, Sirit is independently produced, and buys airtime from ABS-CBN. We are on our second season, and working a third. We are in dire need of sponsors to keep Sirit running for the next 14 years just like Batibot.
Yes. This country needs educational television programs, first, to provide a counterbalance to regular TV programming, and second, provide supplementary learning opportunities available to kids who have no access to quality education, much less able to attend school at all.
By the way, I was with Batibot in its early years, after a stint with Sesame, the local franchise. And I don’t think Batibot will be revived soon. So I suggest to everyone who recognize the importance of educational television, to please support programs who have taken up Batibot’s torch – like Sirit on ABS-CBN, saturdays, 7:50am to 8:15am
